PNU Branch No. 33
In 1910 St. Joseph's Parish organized a branch of the Polish National Union of America, or "Spojnia" as it is popularly known in the Polish language. The parish named Branch No. 33 the Julius Slowacki Society. He was a most beloved poet of Poland who inspired the national consciousness of the Polish people. To this day he is revered in the Republic of Poland.
The Polish National Union (PNU) is a fraternal insurance society established by the first members of the Polish National Catholic Church (PNCC) under the leadership of Prime Bishop Francis Hodur.
